Dr. Blaize Denfeld
National Coordination Office (NCO)
Dr. Blaize Denfeld serves as the International Science Coordinator for the National Coordination Office (NCO). In this role she coordinates the International Activities Interagency Working Group (IAIWG) and the development of interagency strategy to promote international cooperation on
global change research.
Prior to joining USGCRP, Blaize was an AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellow at NASA HQ where she supported program management activities for the Earth Surface and Interior Focus Area. Blaize is an earth system scientist with expertise in freshwater ecosystems and carbon cycling. Throughout her career she has embraced multi-disciplinary and international research efforts focused on the impacts of
climate change on boreal and arctic inland waters. She also has a passion for understanding and facilitating scientific collaborations.
Blaize earned a Ph.D. in Limnology from Uppsala University (Sweden) and a M.A. in Geographical Information Science and a B.A. in Earth System Science from Clark University.
